Teijo National Park is a lovely nature destination in Southern Finland. Arrive there by car or by bus!

Teijo National Park is located in Southern Finland, on the Southwestern Finnish coast, about 140 kilometers from the Helsinki metropolitan area and 80 kilometers from Turku, one of the most populated cities and urban areas in Finland. With its land area of 34 square kilometers, Teijo National Park is dispersed on the Gulf of Finland coastline, in the municipalities of Salo and the neighboring Perniö town. Mathildedal, Teijo and Kirjakkala, the three historic iron works villages with multiple tourist sights, shops, restaurants and cafés, sit on the seashore, a few kilometers west from the national park.

Arrive in Teijo by car

Helsinki and Turku, the two major Southern Finland cities are connected with the 160 kilometer long E18/1 motorway. Teijo National Park is located some 20 kilometers south from the Salo intersection. From the intersection head south along the highway 1823, which passes the national park from the seaside from north to south. You can also head on the Highway 52, which passes the national park from the eastside, leading to the highway 183 intersection.  

Natura Viva’s depot in Teijo, the Teijo Nature Center is located on the southern part of the national park, at the lake Matildanjärvi. You can easiest reach Teijo Nature Center and its adjacent parking area along highway 183 from Perniö (east) or Särkisalo (west). 

Another parking area nearby, The Jeturkasti parking area is located on the Southern tip of the national park, in the vicinity of Natura Viva’s Teijo Nature Center. Address: Skoilantie 354, FI-25660 Salo.

The Kariholma parking area is also located in the vicinity of the Teijo Nature Center, closer to the seashore and the Mathildedal village. Address: Matildanjärventie 20, FI-25660 Salo.

The parking areas at lake Matildanjärvi and at Kariholma are maintained throughout the year and will be cleared from snow during the winter season.

Airport connections to Teijo

Helsinki and Turku both feature international airports, the Helsinki airport being the most important air travel hub in Finland. Numerous international air carriers fly to and from Helsinki. Turku airport sees traffic from some international carriers, such as SAS Scandinavian, WizzAir, Air Baltic, and Finnair, the Finnish flag carrier. 

Public transport to Teijo

There are regular scheduled buses from Salo to Teijo, daily during the summer months and on weekdays during other seasons. See the bus schedules here.

Salo city can be reached via the Finland train network from both Helsinki and Turku, as well as with intercity bus connections from many major cities in Finland.
