Kivisaari in a nutshell

Kivisaari is part of the Helsinki Eastern Archipelago Route. Kivisaari is easily accessible by ferry from different parts of Helsinki. Kivisaari is ideal for a day trip or a longer holiday. The island offers a unique combination of nature, activities and culture. Kivisaari is home to historically valuable buildings, such as the Merilinna, designed by architect Eliel Saarinen and built over 100 years ago.

Kivisaari and its neighbouring islands are easily accessible by water. Kivisaari is ideal for self-paddlers or rowing boaters. If you arrive by kayak or rowing boat, check the landing instructions and remember to pay the service fee. Around the island you can experience the diversity of the archipelago and enjoy the peace of nature.

Kivisaari is connected to Karhusaari by a footbridge. There is a campfire site on Karhusaari, which you can ask the Kivisaari staff about accessing.  If you are a self-guided outdoor enthusiast, you may also want to visit other nearby islands, such as Villaluoto and Malkasaari.

Location of Kivisaari:

Kivisaari is located halfway between Malkasaari and Villinki. From Natura Viva's Vuosaari Paddling Centre, the distance to Kivisaari is 2,5km on the straightest route slightly to the southwest.

Up-to-date information about Kivisaari:

You can go ashore at Kivisaari by rowing boat or kayak between 10:00 and 20:00. There is a fee for landing on Kivisaari. The service fee is paid to the restaurant and covers, among other things, the costs of the toilets, greenery and the barbecue area. Please do not go ashore near the sauna, dock, buildings or on the west side of Kivisaari. The recommended landing place is on the southern shore of the island, to the right of the beach house near the sea. You can also land next to the bridge between Kivisaari and Karhusaari.

There is a daily boat service from the dock on the north side of Kivisaari. For exact timetables and departure points, see the FRS Finland website.
